Traffolyte Labels

This material was first used in Trafford Park factory, located Manchester, UK more than 80 years ago, in 1927. Although this type of material was produced by only two companies until the 1960s, no one actually put a trademark on it. For this reason, later on many companies started using it freely and to this day there are many businesses offering mostly two or three layer phenolic plastic sheets engraving, which is what we call now “Traffolyte Labels”.

What Are They Made Up Of?

As its name suggests, Traffolyte labels are made up of traffolyte (brand name) or phenolic engraving laminate. This material consists of multiple different layers each one painted of a different colour than the rest and which can be engraved providing a notorious contrast between the engraved and non-engraved sheets. They normally come with 1.5 to 3 mm depths. This characteristic found in traffolyte labels makes them useful for some specific purposes.

What Are Their Uses?

Traffolyte labels can be used for making labels, signs and name tags. It is also widely used in the following industries: financial sector, hospital and medical, engineering, industrial, manufacturing, electrical, etc. It can also be used for decorative purposes in all types of offices and other similar sites.

What are Its Benefits?

The main benefit of Traffolyte labels is their cost effectiveness. A sheet of 1.2 meters by 0.6 meters can be bought for a very low price of£8. Several name tags or a few large signs can be produced from a single sheet.

It is a low maintenance material. It is resistance to various substances found in the atmosphere and other chemicals. Besides, they can be easily cleaned and disinfected with hot water leaving no damage on them whatsoever. They are resistant to water, as well as it is difficult for them to ignite. Needless to say, they are very durable and are an excellent investment for their minimal cost. Moreover, they have a professional finish which makes them a suitable form of decoration in many businesses.

Finally, they can be personalised to almost any possible situation a person needs. Some companies offer to make special designs with different types of letters and numbers as well as holes to attach to doors or other devices. They also support the engraving of images which can depict and make the message a person wants to engrave more clearly.

Types

There are many types of labels available in the market depending on the needs of the person who wants to buy it. The most common ones however are interior design labels. As its name states it, these are made to be used indoors where there aren´t any harsh environmental conditions. More resistant ones or outdoor labels can be used outside of a building. There are others that come with wood grain finishes that provide an elegant touch to the plates and labels.

Colours can also be chosen for specific purposes. Bright colours such as white, red and white can be used for fire caution signs while gold, black and silver can be used for name plates to give them a more professional look.

UK companies offer very high-quality engraving plastics and hi-impact acrylics which are used for these types of labels.
